Want to know what's going on for the kids at Cornerstone this summer? Click here to see the summer info webpage, which will be updated as new things are announced. In case you're curious as to how leadership of children's ministries works now, I thought I would give you a run-down, to show how my life has changed! I used to be the leader over all and awhile into my leadership Trish came in as my sidekick :) and helped me tremendously. After I stepped down from official leadership, she stepped up into a temporary replacement role for awhile and then felt God lead her into more than just a temporary replacement role, and man am I glad!!! She is now the Children's Ministries UN-official leader! Although we don't have a head person now, she is the closest we have, with me tagging along as a sidekick now!
Here's how the leadership breaks down:
- Trish is completely in charge of: Kids' Club 7-10s
- Trish and I co-lead Prayer Pals, each responsible for 1/2 of the kids.
- I lead Reading Rocks, with Trish as my very close and hard working co-leader.
- Trish leads VBS entirely and works with all visiting groups (this is my first summer not having to do this job and it is already such a blessing, thanks Trish!)
- I lead God's Girls with a very close partnership with Trish. I do much of the ahead planning, although she jumps in whenever asked :). She's good like that! We both co-lead the entire week of the actual program.
- I teach our Sunday School class each week, planning our own curriculum, Trish steps in whenever I am away.
- Trish handles all of the summer permission forms (over 250 each summer), attendance sheets, spreadsheets with data, etc. Another huge relief for me.
- Trish coordinates all visitation done by visiting groups...when mission teams go out on the streets handing out fliers and such.
- Trish is the leader of our after school program which we are hoping and praying will start back up in the fall. We were both saddened by the fact that it had to take a year off this past year. I am her sidekick in this and am doing lots of the ahead planning. We are in the process of developing an entirely new program, which we are both VERY excited about. I spend hours and hours each week already preparing for this. When the fall comes however, it will be Trish who devotes the hours and hours each week! Please be in prayer for this program, we really desire to serve the educational needs of our children!
As you can see, we all need to say a big prayer of thanks for God bringing Trish into my life, and to Cornerstone. I talk to her way less (as a friend) than I used to which saddens me, but we are both working hard to make the ministry great...which means we are off being busy much of the time! We don't talk much but we work GREAT together, I am so blessed. In addition to being the UN-official Children's Ministries leader, Trish also does many other things for CCC. If you are interested in reading about her life, you can check out her great web page. She also writes a great blog, which is linked on her website.
I feel great about where God has me at this point in my ministry with CCC. I like being a bit more in the background. I can do a lot of work from my home, which also allows me to be a better Mom. I feel very balanced and pray for God to continue to guide me. I don't ever want to get to the point I was at, what a sad and dark place that was for me. But, looking back, I just smile at where He has brought me. Thank you for your prayers during that time and now!
ps-Trish if I got any leadership info wrong, please feel free to edit :)
