Exploring priorities

I have been praying a lot about priorities lately. Trying to be very specific as I make decisions with my time, making sure that the things that occupy my time are purposeful in some way. Not that I have to be "doing something" all the time but that my life is Kingdom minded in everything I do, even my own personal life. As I have explored my priorities I thought I would write about where I am at right now. I have a lot of things I like to do, and many things I have to do, along with things I LOVE to do! As I focus my time, these are the things that made my list(in no particular order):
  • Learning and Growing Personally/Spiritually...time with God, through books, Bible, prayer, worship, church (the actual message), even the internet at times (I read some very inspiring blogs).
  • Homeschooling...I want to give my son(s) the very best I can possibly give them, which sometimes takes way longer to prepare than I would like, but they deserve the best.
  • Saving Money...I have made our saving adventure a priority as I have realized that the motto "Save more to Give More" rings true. When we are better equipped financially to provide for our own needs and wants, we are much more able to give of our time and money for others.
  • Blogging...I love blogging, I know many think I am weird, but I am a sort of wannabe writer at heart :). I love writing my homeschooling blog and connecting with other homeschoolers. I love the Shop With Us Blog, and actually plan to begin sharing more on there about my detailed money saving system! I love this blog and I love reading the few blogs I really enjoy! Blogging is a way of connecting, sharing and growing for me.
  • Photos...I still love taking photos more than your average person, although I have chilled this out a bit! I love putting photos on Phanfare and sharing with family and friends and archiving our life that way. Memories are big deal to me!
  • Health...I am 100% comitted to exercising at least 2 times per week at the Y, I know it's not much but it's my minimum promise to myself. I still try to eat well, sleep well, drink water, take my medicines and keep myself as healthy as possible (both mentally and physically) so I can better serve HIM.
  • Ministry Life...I am very focused with my ministry now and I LOVE it. My #1 focus is God's Girls and I am embracing that role more and more and more. I love the counseling I am doing with J and would even like to extend it to another girl. Prayer Pals has become a focus again as we are once again growing the program. For awhile there I thought it might fizzle away but I am certain now it won't! I love it!
  • Organization...yes this is a priority for me as I realize that it keeps me and the rest of my family more sane. Included in this is also simplifying as I try to unload the many piles and take loads to the thrift store! I am a pack rat and I am learning not to be!
  • Cleaning...having a clean home is a priority for me. My home is in no way an example for cleanliness but it is my goal to have it a certain way each day. I know it means a lot to Frank and I can relax more when things are clean.
  • My Family...I am trying to be the most supportive and loving wife I can be which requires me to change a lot of mySELF. Frank and I are getting along better on a daily basis and it feels really great. I am also trying to be the best mom I can be, although this is something I feel I may never have a grip on.

There are some things that I have decided to not let suck a lot of my time, that used to take away a lot of it...the main one being tv/movies. I rarely watch tv at all anymore, and haven't for a long time. I used to watch tv a LOT. As I learn to be more purposeful with my time, tv has taken a backseat to reading, rest, and time on the computer doing what I love (blogging, reading and photos).

As ministry life becomes more of a priority of mine again I am going to try to begin blogging weekly about my specific ministries, expecially my God's Girls Sunday school class. There are so many wonderful things going on and I know I don't take the time to share them like I should. So be looking out for more ministry posts in the future! If I don't do this, hold me accountable!!!
