The GIC came to a close tonight and oh what a close it was. It was a busy day today-beginning with an early presentation for the wonderful Parousia Sunday school class. We spent the 9:40 service in with our children and then made it to the 11 service for worship. The service was amazing, challenging and brought many tears for me and many others. The congregation of MUMC presented their faith commitments to the Lord as a group.
This evening was a debriefing with Pastor Brad and the other missionaries, followed by a dinner-which was awesome. We sat at a table with Ben, Carrie, and 2 SAM missionaries-Dana and Ken, and just talked and laughed. The friendships that have formed between us all are indescribable.
After dinner we went for the final Life Commitment service where the people came again, this time to commit their lives in whatever way they felt God calling them. Frank and I spoke on a panel up front with Ron & Linda who serve in Belize. We all shared briefly of what “the calling” looked like for us.
At the closing of the service, Pastor Ken shared with us that the financial commitment made by the people of MUMC exceeded $300,000!!!! Unreal! It was with great thanks we all rose to our feet and praised God for the way He has truly shown up in so many lives this week. We are truly honored to be a part of this whole thing.
To see where MUMC has come since the day I first stepped foot in the doors over 12 years ago is just unreal. It was always a good church, but this has truly blown me away. The people have really stepped up and out in faith. I am proud to say this is our sending church and our home base. A HUGE thanks to the many who I came into contact with this week-I know many of you are reading this now {because you so sweetly told me you read it!}. Thank you for loving us, for praying for us, for showing up and allowing God to work through YOU. It is an honor to have you on our team.
WOW! That's really wonderful! Praise God for all He's doing in and through your church!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful Celebration this has been for all of you. So glad for you and Frank and for the renewal you must be feeling. You are doing an amazing job for Christ and God is doing an amazing job through others to support you. God is good! Praying for a safe travel home.
