Reading Rocks ~ how it works Part 2

We had another wonderful day at Reading Rocks, bringing in about 10 more new kids, we're up to 46 already!!! We had 33 in attendance today--amazing, the Hope House was packed!!!

Here's a bit more about how it works...
When the kids join us we do our best to start them with the type of book that is at their level, they select a book from one of the many labeled boxes we have. In the boxes, there are Ziploc baggies which each contain the book, the worksheet and a pencil.

We provide reading helpers for the kids that need them, which tends to be about half of our kids! Thankfully we are blessed with teens who come and help out and also a few adults from our church. This year it is especially neat for me because many of our teen helpers are God's Girls!

The kids read for the entire hour, accumulating points as they go. Today I overheard a child reading the story of Jonah for the very first time, he was enthralled to say the least!

Next time I will share about our awards and prize incentives to keep them motivated all month!
