Reading Rocks ~ how it works Part 4

So, today brought in even more kids...we're up to about 55 now! We had 30 in attendance today which is wonderful!!! Many kids got to go into the prize boxes so that was a BIG incentive and morale booster to get the more lazy kids in gear! I was super excited to have MANY God's Girls helping out, I just love having *my girls* around! :)

Today I am going to tell you about our newly added Fruit of the Spirit Awards! We wanted a way for the kids to earn more points this year, for things other than just reading. We also wanted to encourage Godly behavior...in comes our Fruit of the Spirit Awards, another of God's great ideas!

We have 6 awards, each worth 10 points.

• Like Christ
• Gentle and Quiet
• Joyful
• Patient, Peaceful and Helpful
• Neat & Organized
• Great Focus

We assign the awards to the kids AFTER they leave each day so they have an incentive to come back the next day to see if they got one!!!! Whether they come or not, they receive their bonus 10 points, but we like doing it this way to encourage their regular attendance! After the kids leave for the day, The leaders discuss and assign the awards and then we hang them up on the child's bookworm, like this...

It has worked out well and has the kids extra motivate this year, we also have a better grip on behavior this summer. This has been our best-behaved summer so far!!!
