I am sorry I have been so bad with the camera this summer! I did want to share a few photos from our summer of Reading Rocks! It was a smaller year {in number of kids} this year and turned out to be a blessing. I co-lead this program along with Trish, Shannon, and Laurie. Trish is the overall leader and leads the younger book readers {picture books}, with Laurie assisting her. Shannon leads the chapter book readers with my assistance. We also have several teens plus Lindsay who also help. It was nice to be able to spend more 1:1 time with each child.
Here’s a peek into a bit of our time with the children. Take a moment and pray for these faces, please!
The following photos are from the Light House {next door to the church} which is where we host the chapter book readers. Here’s Shannon telling them how it works the first day…
Shannon came up with a really cool idea this year for our chapter book readers. Each child chose a leather string and they earned special beads that represented certain things {pages read, attendance, bonus days, completing a book, etc.}. The kids seemed to really love this!
We enjoyed our summer and look forward to next year!
Not familiar with Reading Rocks?
I wrote a blog series awhile back explaining the program in great detail, here are the links to those posts..
